MacBook Air Gets M4 Chip, New ‘Sky Blue’ Color, Starting at $999

With the announcement of the second “Air” of the week, Apple released the M4 Macbook Air, lowering the M3 Air’s MSRP from $1,099 to a starting price of $999.

Macbook Air Comes at a $100 Cheaper MSRP, Extended Display Support, New M4 Chip, and Higher Memory Config

The M4 Macbook Air comes in two sizes: 13-inch, which starts at $999, and 15-inch, starting at $1,199. Both variants get the upgraded M4 chip, supporting Apple Intelligence, and as was rumored, will support up to two external monitors while still using the built-in display. The M3 Air could either run a single monitor with the lid open, or two with it closed.

It comes with a 10-core CPU and an 8-core GPU on the base spec. This isn’t the same chip found on the pricier Macbook Pro, though. It’s a binned version of the M4 chip that comes with two less GPU cores. The base variant does however start at 16GB of unified memory alongside 256GB of internal storage.

The max-spec also sees an upgrade this year, with the maximum memory being bumped up to 32GB and a storage option of 2TB being available as well. Keep in mind that the M4 Air can also be configured to sport a 10-core GPU M4 chip.

Apple has also introduced a new Sky Blue colorway, which is a light bluish hue, with a “dynamic gradient” when light is reflected off of it. Like in previous years, all models will come with a color-matched MagSafe charge cable.

The M4 Macbook Air is available to pre-order now, and will release next week on March 12, 2025.

This is all we know for now, but rest assured that we will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
